According to the notice released by Suzhou Municipal People’s Government yesterday, e-bicycle riders in the Suzhou municipality should wear helmets starting Aug.1 and those failing to do so shall be warned or fined RMB 20 yuan to 50 yuan.
Traffic police’s analysis of the fatal accidents involving e-bicycles in recent years points to the fact that many of the riders died from brain damage because they didn’t wear helmets.The notice was issued for the purpose of enhancing public awareness of safe travel so as to prevent and reduce potential traffic accidents.
