Dean's letter to the SIE community

Dear SIE students, faculty, parents, and friends,

On behalf of SIE, I am writing to thank all of you, our students, faculty and staff abroad or at China, during the COVID-19 hard time, with your cooperation and consideration, we are adapting amidst these extraordinary circumstances.

Even though the Covid-19 outbreak has disrupted the original plan for on-campus classes to resume immediately after the Spring Festival holiday, we are proceeding with our semester through online courses. This was not a simple task – we have nearly 60 students faculties located at more than 6 countries, in many different time zones and with varying levels of internet access and technological resources. Thanks to the expertise and infrastructure at and the tireless efforts of many colleagues at SIE and SITC, we have built a highly dynamic online campus within just two weeks. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has worked hard to make this happen.

While moving online teaching is not an easy task, it has given us a unique opportunity to create a close-knit, highly engaged community across the different countries and time zones. We are proud of our ability to continue our academic experience. We are a family and a community of destiny. All staffs of SIE will continue to provide you with various services.

It’s clear that the world still faces a severe challenge in fighting against COVID-19. Confirmed and suspected cases are increasing rapidly in some countries and regions. This is a difficult moment for all of us. Please be assured that the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and community unquestionably remains our highest priority. Our online teaching will continue until July. Please wait patiently for the notice of the start of autumn semester. If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact with your counsellor or send your advice to szjmgjxy@szjm.edu.cn

We look forward to the day when you return to our beautiful campus in Suzhou once again.
